Mouhamed Moustapha, born in 1982 at Pondicherry, India

 

Mouhamed Moustapha is an independent photographer based in Pondicherry, India. He invests time in capturing and showcasing subtle beauties and joys hidden in every moment of his life’s journey. Known for having translated stress into strength, he balances every bit of creative energy by capturing and preserving memories that he witnesses in the outdoors. Personal favourites of his are daily life, architecture, people and street.

Awards and Recognition

 

  • Finalist in the “Single Photo” category of the Nikon Photo Contest for the year 2015.
  • Winner of NATGEO Moment Award organized by National Geographic India in 2014. Also bagged a photo assignment as a part of that award.
  • Winner of South Asia Award in the “Ten Photos to Shake the World” contest organized by Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) in 2014.
  • Honorary Mention in the “Black & White” category in the Artistique Photo Contest and Exhibition organized by Asian Photography and SAP Media in 2014.

Workshops Attended

 

  • Selected to be part of two workshops organized by the photography collective “Kannadi”: “Art of Seeing” workshop (2013) mentored by John Isaac and Documentary Photography workshop (2014) jointly conducted by Sudharak Olwe (India) and Helena Schaetzle (Germany).
  • Won a scholarship to be part of the Storytelling Workshop (2016) by Walter Astrada, organized by Chennai Photo Biennale.

Presentations/Published Images/Exhibitions

 

  • He was invited to make a presentation on his photographic journey in an event organized by the Department of Visual Communication, Madras Christian College, Chennai, and Photography Society of Madras (PSM) in 2015.
  • His photographs have been published in Creative Image magazine (curated by Mr. Raghu Rai), Deep Freeze photozine, Artpil (Profiles of Art) Rome, APF, 121clicks.com, Puthiya Thalaimurai (Tamizh magazine), among others.
  • His images were part of the Group Exhibition conducted by FRONTON Photo Club, France, in 2014. He is currently working towards his solo exhibition to be held in Pondicherry in 2017.
